Trump Claims US Wars Can Be Fought Indefinitely with Stockpiled Arms

The United States, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, has been drawn into intense combat operations against Iran, raising questions about military strategies and munitions supplies. President Donald Trump recently made a statement suggesting that wars could be sustained indefinitely and effectively through the use of existing munitions stockpiles.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump commended the United States’ abundant “medium and upper medium grade” weaponry, though he did not specify the exact types of munitions being referenced. “As was stated to me today, we have a virtually unlimited supply of these weapons. Wars can be fought ‘forever,’ and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries finest arms!),” he remarked.

The backdrop to Trump’s comments is the uncertainty surrounding the duration of the conflict involving the US and Israel against Iran. While addressing reporters earlier, Trump indicated that the military campaign could extend over four to five weeks, noting that the administration is prepared for a longer engagement if necessary.

Combat operations against Iran intensified as Washington and Tel Aviv launched hundreds of strikes over the weekend, resulting in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the initial wave. This has led to a retaliatory response from Iran and its allies, who have targeted Israel and nearby US military bases with ballistic missiles, rockets, and drones. The resulting chaos has affected residential and tourist areas, disrupted numerous flights, and triggered a surge in oil prices.

Trump also acknowledged in his Truth Social post that the current levels of weapons stockpiles are “not where we want to be,” hinting at additional reserves in other countries. The potential need for these external munitions suggests the possibility of an extended conflict.

The White House has not provided any comments in response to inquiries from Business Insider sent outside of normal business hours.

This military engagement has sparked discussions regarding the remaining US stockpiles of long-range munitions, such as the Tomahawk cruise missile. Concerns are mounting that these resources may be required to address potential threats from other adversaries, particularly China.

According to US officials, a variety of munitions has been utilized in the conflict, including drones, offensive missiles, and interceptors. These developments are closely monitored as the situation continues to evolve.
