Macomb County Implements Ballot Verifier for Election Transparency

Macomb County Introduces Ballot Verifier Software for Election Transparency

Macomb County, Michigan, has taken a significant step towards ensuring election transparency by implementing a new software called Ballot Verifier. This innovative technology captures a digital snapshot of each ballot as it goes through the vote tabulator, anonymizes the information, and shuffles the images to safeguard voter privacy.

According to Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini, this software allows election officials to verify if the votes on the ballots align accurately with the tabulator’s results. Moreover, residents can now access a dedicated webpage on the clerk’s website to independently verify the ballot counting process.

Forlini emphasized that the introduction of Ballot Verifier aims to address concerns surrounding election security and integrity, offering reassurance to the public. He believes that this practice will set a new standard for clerks and election administrators statewide, enhancing transparency and bolstering confidence in the electoral process.

As Forlini, who is also a Republican candidate for Michigan Secretary of State, stated, “I really believe most clerks in the state want to see that transparency, [and] to answer the questions that everyone has.” By embracing Ballot Verifier, Macomb County is paving the way for greater accountability and trust in elections.
