Arizona Faces Unprecedented Diesel Price Surge
Motorists in Arizona are encountering a significant hike in diesel prices, now reaching an all-time high. On Wednesday, the price of diesel fuel in Arizona soared to $6.20 per gallon, as reported by AAA Arizona. This surpasses the previous record of $5.90 set last year. Comparatively, the average price for diesel was $3.57 at this time last year.
Patrick De Haan from Gasbuddy provided insights into the situation, noting that geopolitical factors play a crucial role. “For now though the president and Iran continue to have some back and forth and the real only improvement to gas prices down the road would be an improvement in the Strait of Hormuz,” he stated. Despite ongoing negotiations, a ceasefire with Iran might not lead to price reductions if oil exports remain obstructed.
While the rate of increase in gas prices is decelerating across Arizona, unleaded gasoline still sees a rise. In Maricopa County, the average price hit $4.96 earlier this week, whereas the national average was $4.16 as of Thursday, according to AAA data.
