Drone Deliveries Set to Transform Shopping in Phoenix by 2027
Residents of Phoenix will soon experience a new era of convenience with drone deliveries set to become a reality next year. This innovative service, developed through a partnership between Walmart and Wing, a leading drone company, is scheduled to launch in 2027 across seven major metropolitan areas, including Phoenix.
Currently, the service is operational in select areas such as Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Atlanta, setting the stage for broader expansion. Wing’s drones are engineered to travel at speeds reaching up to 60 mph, utilizing a tether system to safely lower packages directly to customers’ yards or driveways.
Jessie Poole-Strang, a communications manager at Wing, highlighted the benefits of this delivery method. “Like, traffic can be brutal. The heat can be brutal, and drone delivery is a great option for those that either don’t want to or can’t leave the home to do those errands, but maybe take quite a while — especially when you calculate those drive times back and forth,” she explained.
As part of the rollout strategy, Wing is actively engaging with community leaders to ensure a smooth introduction of the service in new markets. Discussions are ongoing to finalize the details of the implementation process, aiming to make this futuristic delivery option a seamless addition to the local shopping experience.
