Texas College Student’s Wrongful Arrest by U.S. Marshals Sparks Outrage

College Student’s Harrowing Encounter with Law Enforcement Unveiled

Police officers running, wrongful arrest, Texas, Braylen Kizzee, fugitive

A routine drive turned into a traumatic experience for Braylen Kizzee, a 19-year-old college student from Fort Bend County, Texas. His encounter with law enforcement on December 3 has left him distressed and anxious. The ordeal began when Kizzee was wrongfully stopped by officers who mistook him for a suspect linked to a fugitive case.

In an interview with ABC 13, Kizzee described the terrifying moments when he was ordered at gunpoint to crawl on the ground. Officers soon realized their mistaken identity error, but not before causing significant distress to Kizzee.

As he drove to college that morning, Kizzee was intercepted by an unmarked vehicle on the Fort Bend Toll road. The officers, initially not identifying themselves, began issuing commands. “I just really thought somebody was just trying to jack my car,” Kizzee recalled.

One officer reportedly shouted, “‘Show me your hands before I blow your head off’” and instructed Kizzee to crawl towards their truck. It wasn’t until the officers confirmed he wasn’t their suspect that they lowered their weapons.

Kizzee sustained minor injuries, including scratches and bruises. The incident also left his vehicle damaged from the officers’ vehicle. Byron Kizzee, Braylen’s father and a peace officer, expressed his relief that his son survived the encounter. “If he made one wrong move, I probably would be burying my son,” he told ABC 13. “I want everybody held accountable.”

The officers involved were revealed to be part of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, managed by the U.S. Marshals Service, which has not commented on the event. Byron Kizzee criticized their approach, noting the absence of proper procedure and identification.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump has since brought attention to Kizzee’s situation, advocating for accountability and reform.
