Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach Confirmed as New Air Force Chief of Staff
The United States Senate recently confirmed Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach to lead as the Air Force’s new chief of staff. This decision was part of a series of military promotions approved unanimously by the Senate before their adjournment.
Air Force Secretary Troy Meink praised Wilsbach’s extensive experience, especially within the Pacific region, stating, “With his vast experience in the Pacific and as a commander at all levels, he is the right leader for the @usairforce.” This message was shared on X shortly after the confirmation.
Senator Kevin Kramer, representing North Dakota, expressed his support for Wilsbach, describing him as both an “outstanding leader” and a “great partner” for the state’s air personnel, including the Air National Guardsmen and Air Force installations. “I have full confidence he will work tirelessly to spur innovation and modernization and maintain combat-ready forces, all while prioritizing our airmen,” Kramer added in his post on X.
Wilsbach takes over the role from Gen. David Allvin, who announced his retirement earlier than expected, cutting short his typical four-year term. Wilsbach had also been planning retirement before Allvin’s announcement changed his course.
With a rich history as an F-15, F-16, and F-22 pilot, Wilsbach previously led the Air Combat Command, responsible for a significant portion of the Air Force’s fighter fleet. His combat experience includes 71 missions enforcing the no-fly zone over Iraq and during Operation Enduring Freedom. His leadership roles have extended to commanding the Pacific Air Forces and acting as deputy commander of U.S. Forces Korea, which adds to his strategic expertise in the Indo-Pacific region.
