Disney World is often seen as the ultimate family destination, but it also offers a wealth of experiences for adults seeking a getaway without the kids. Imagine strolling through the parks at your own pace, savoring fine dining, and discovering hidden details often overlooked by those in a hurry. This is Disney World reimagined for the grown-up crowd.
The Ideal Retreat: Swan Reserve
The Swan Reserve, a recent addition to Disney’s hotel lineup, presents a fresh and airy atmosphere perfect for adults. While it boasts family-friendly features, it also offers perks like early entry and on-site Cast Members to assist with Disney Parks queries. Additionally, the hotel provides complimentary childcare at select dining venues, making it a convenient choice for parents seeking some alone time.
Located within walking distance of EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, the Swan Reserve’s spacious, sunlit rooms offer a break from the typical Disney theme. The Stir lounge in the lobby is a highlight, offering late-night snacks and cocktails like the Garden Party and Banana Hands, perfect for unwinding after a day at the parks.
Culinary Delights: Discovering Disney’s Food Scene
Over four days, a culinary journey unfolded with visits to ten different dining spots. Highlights included the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts Food Studios and brunch at Art Smith Homecomin’. The California Grill provided dinner with stunning firework views, while cocktails at The Beak and Barrel offered a taste of pirate life.
The Beak and Barrel, a new lounge at Magic Kingdom, captivates with its immersive pirate theme. With a two-drink limit and a 45-minute stay, this venue offers an experience as much as a drink.
Elegant Dining at Takumi-Tei
For a more tranquil dining experience, Takumi-Tei at EPCOT offers an omakase-style menu that emphasizes elegance and sophistication. Nestled in the Japan pavilion, the restaurant features five dining rooms, each uniquely themed. The meal is an artful display of culinary skills, with each dish beautifully plated and served in a serene environment.
GEO-82: A Space for Adults
Adults seeking an exclusive experience will find solace in EPCOT’s GEO-82 lounge. Free from strollers and children’s menus, this venue offers sophisticated nods to Spaceship Earth, along with a standout cocktail menu and delightful bites. Here, guests can linger without a time constraint, enjoying unique features like the Spaceship Earth ice cube in the Brown Butter Old Fashioned.
Exploring Disney at Night
Without children in tow, there was ample opportunity to explore Disney’s nighttime offerings. Late-night dinners, last-minute rides, and the 10 p.m. Disney Starlight parade were on the agenda. One of the best viewing spots for the parade is in Liberty Square, near Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.
Uncovering Disney’s Hidden Details
Taking a leisurely approach allowed for the discovery of Disney’s hidden details, such as easter eggs in the Star Tours queue. With no strict schedule, there was freedom to make spontaneous decisions, like a pre-dinner ride on “It’s a Small World,” perfectly timed under the clock’s chime at 7 p.m.
This adult-centric Disney adventure was a departure from the norm, with less planning and more time to savor each moment, offering a new way to enjoy the magic.
