Jensen Huang’s Tokyo Visit: AI Partnerships, Red Bean Buns, and More

Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, turned a business trip into a memorable event in Tokyo, where he brought both technological advancements and a taste of local culture. His visit was marked by high-profile AI partnerships and personal interactions with tech enthusiasts.

AI Collaborations and Cultural Engagement

During his time in Tokyo, Huang unveiled a significant collaboration with Noetra Corp, a state-backed AI entity created by industry giants like SoftBank, NEC, Sony, and Honda. The centerpiece is a 27,500-GPU “AI factory,” touted as the world’s inaugural national AI infrastructure dedicated to robotics.

His itinerary also included a trip to a former Sega arcade in Akihabara, where he expressed gratitude to the gaming company for its pivotal role in Nvidia’s history. In the 1990s, Sega provided a $5 million lifeline that helped stabilize the then-fledgling chipmaker.

A Taste of Tokyo

Huang’s evening activities stole the spotlight as he dined at Yakiton Sankichi, a popular izakaya near Kanda Station. Here, he enjoyed local delicacies like offal hotpot and a “baka-mori” mountain of fries, reports from Diamond Online reveal.

In the company of executives from Kioxia, Tokyo Electron, Shin-Etsu Chemical, Sumitomo Electric, Taiyo Yuden, and Ajinomoto, Huang continued his tradition of blending business with local cuisine.

After dinner, Huang distributed red bean buns to a waiting crowd, offering a personal touch to his visit. This gesture was reminiscent of his previous trips, where he often engages with local street food scenes.

Tradition of Local Dining

Huang’s penchant for local street food is well-documented. In May, he was seen enjoying fried bean sauce noodles on a Beijing sidewalk during a state visit with President Donald Trump. “It’s so good,” he remarked to onlookers.

Throughout the years, Huang has been photographed enjoying local delicacies in Vietnam, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Notably, his dinner with Samsung and Hyundai executives in Seoul was a highlight, where photographers captured the event.

As Nvidia continues to announce new AI ventures, local restaurants in these regions might want to prepare for a surge in interest.
