KFC Headquarters Relocates from Kentucky to Texas

In a move that signals a significant shift in its operational strategy, KFC is relocating its U.S. headquarters from its historical roots in Kentucky to Texas. This major transition is part of a broader strategy by its parent company, Yum Brands, to encourage more collaboration between its brands and employees.

Yum Brands announced in a press release that it intends to establish two brand headquarters in the United States. These offices will be located in Plano, Texas, and Irvine, California.

This decision marks a departure from KFC’s long-standing connection to Louisville, Kentucky, where Yum Brands’ current headquarters resides. The company plans to maintain corporate offices in Louisville, ensuring some continuity with its past.

The move will not only involve relocating KFC’s U.S.-based corporate office employees, currently situated in Louisville, to the new Plano headquarters but also includes asking about 90 remote employees to return to their respective offices. According to the release, the relocation of 100 corporate roles will take place over the next six months, while the transition of remote positions is expected to span 18 months.

Yum Brands, the parent company of KFC, also oversees other popular food chains, including Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Habit Burger & Grill. The company reported notable growth in its latest earnings, with an 8% increase in global sales during the fourth quarter and KFC specifically witnessing a 6% rise.

With more than 4,100 KFC locations in the U.S. and over 30,000 outlets worldwide across 145 countries, KFC continues to expand its global presence. Yum Brands’ stock has also seen a positive trajectory, with an approximate 10% increase since the start of the year.
