Twenty-Six Defense Debuts Primex AR Night-Vision at AUSA Expo

Twenty-Six Defense Makes Its Mark with Innovative Technology

The AUSA expo witnessed the debut of a new player in defense technology as Twenty-Six Defense, formerly known as Elbit Systems’ American subsidiary, unveiled its latest innovations. The Texas-based company introduced Primex, a groundbreaking wearable designed to enhance soldiers’ capabilities with night-vision and augmented reality features.

Primex stands out for its lightweight design, specifically crafted to minimize cognitive load and maintain situational awareness. According to Twenty-Six Defense, the device offers “the lightest head-borne load and near-neutral center of gravity,” ensuring it can be used effectively in prolonged operations.

Utilizing advanced low-light sensors, thermal imaging, and real-time processing, Primex provides a highly responsive digital perception, allowing users to better understand their surroundings even in adverse conditions. The firm emphasizes that its development is based on mature technologies that have already been effectively deployed in the field.

Another notable product from Twenty-Six Defense is the AN/PSQ-44 Enhanced Night Vision Goggles, known for their rapid target acquisition and augmented reality features designed to improve visual clarity.

Ernie Basic, senior director of research and development at Twenty-Six Defense, shared insights on the company’s involvement in the Soldier Borne Mission Command project. This initiative aims to equip soldiers with augmented reality wearables that merge fighter-pilot displays with night vision, offering “the full operational picture.” Basic elaborated, “You are not only seeing what is in front of you. You can leverage a feed coming from a drone or from other assets.” This integration allows soldiers to visualize areas beyond direct sight, like behind structures, and dynamically adjust squad movements.

Moreover, Twenty-Six Defense showcased other significant military equipment, including the XM1168 mobile 120mm mortar system, Autonomous Relocatable Surveillance Tower, and SkyStriker Block 4E, further solidifying its position as an innovator in defense solutions.
