U.S. Military Launches Operation to Capture Venezuelan President Maduro

U.S. Military’s Bold Operation in Venezuela: Unveiling the Aerial Arsenal

In a remarkable display of aerial prowess, the U.S. military orchestrated a complex operation to secure the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. This ambitious mission, named Operation Absolute Resolve, showcased the capabilities of an extensive fleet of aircraft, spanning multiple branches of the armed services. Among these, a covert reconnaissance drone from the Air Force was reportedly involved, adding an element of intrigue to the operation.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, alongside President Donald Trump, addressed the media on Saturday, revealing that over 150 aircraft were deployed from 20 different locations, both on land and sea, to facilitate Maduro’s capture.

The operation’s aerial lineup included an impressive array of advanced aircraft: F-22 Raptors, F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, F/A-18 Hornets, and B-1 Lancer bombers, according to Caine. Additionally, E/A-18 Growlers, designed for electronic warfare, and E-2 Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft were among the diverse fleet. The mission also saw participation from numerous helicopters and support aircraft.

Gen. Caine emphasized the complexity and precision required for such an operation, stating, “This was an audacious operation that only the United States could do.” He highlighted the meticulous coordination needed to launch over 150 aircraft across the Western Hemisphere to achieve tactical surprise and ensure the mission’s success.

The mission’s success relied on flawless execution, with failure not being an option, as Caine pointed out: “Failure of one component of this well-oiled machine would have endangered the entire mission, and failure is never an option for America’s joint force.”

Despite inquiries about the specific drones used, the Air Force deferred to the Pentagon’s press office, which cited operational security in declining to comment. Nevertheless, aviation enthusiasts soon shared videos online of the Air Force’s stealthy RQ-170 Sentinel reconnaissance drone returning to Puerto Rico, hinting at its involvement.

The RQ-170, known for its low-observable capabilities and dubbed the Beast of Kandahar, has a storied history, being frequently operated over Afghanistan. It has also been the subject of international intrigue, with Iran having downed one in 2011.

Weather conditions posed additional challenges, with Caine noting that skilled aviators navigated through a brief weather window to execute the mission. The helicopters, flying just 100 feet above sea level, approached Venezuela under the protection of overhead aircraft, which successfully neutralized multiple air defense systems.

The extraction team faced hostile fire during their approach to Maduro’s compound in Caracas, and one helicopter sustained damage but remained operational. The team managed to apprehend Maduro and his wife, with fighter aircraft and drones providing critical support and intelligence for their safe withdrawal to the USS Iwo Jima.

This daring operation underscores the U.S. military’s ability to conduct complex missions with precision and coordination, ensuring tactical success even in the most challenging conditions.
