During an interview with Newsmax, James used strong language to describe the participants of the Ashura procession in Dearborn, Michigan. He expressed his concerns about extremism and stated, “Under no circumstances will we be a home in Michigan for extremism.” In response, CAIR Michigan’s executive director Dawud Walid condemned James’ remarks, highlighting the importance of freedom of religion and assembly.

James’ pledge to label CAIR as a terrorist group follows similar actions in other states.
