Scott Timko believes his experience as a small business owner equips him to serve in the Pennsylvania House, even though one of his businesses has accrued significant tax debt.
Timko is a candidate in the August 18 special election for the state’s 12th District. In a February interview with the Butler Eagle, he emphasized his commitment to reducing taxes and cutting regulations.
“The best thing for the economy is for people to keep as much of their money as possible,” Timko stated.
Timko and his wife have operated several restaurants in Cranberry Township, including Vocelli Pizza and J. Gumbo’s Cajun. They also managed a limited liability company, GotGumbo LLC.
According to records from the Butler County Prothonotary, Timko and his wife were each subjected to a tax lien of $32,174 due to debts incurred by GotGumbo LLC. By July, the company’s tax debt to the state had reached $42,471.
In previous years, the company has faced similar issues with unpaid taxes. From 2021 to 2024, GotGumbo LLC paid $18,877 to clear outstanding liens.
Timko has also mentioned owning a small airplane, which public records suggest is registered under GotGumbo LLC. He explained in February that flying offers a cost-effective alternative to driving, helping him avoid road tolls.
“I have a small plane,” Timko remarked. “It’s almost cheaper for me to fly to Harrisburg than it is to drive on the turnpike.”
His Democratic opponent in the election is Brandon Dukes.
