Arizona AG Targets L’Oréal Over Alleged Health Risks in Hair Products
The Arizona Attorney General has initiated legal proceedings against L’Oréal, alleging deceptive marketing practices concerning their chemical hair relaxers. These products, which are primarily marketed to Black women, are accused of containing harmful toxins linked to cancer.
L’Oréal’s products under brands like Dark and Lovely, Optimum, and Mizani are designed to straighten coily or curly hair chemically. The suit alleges these relaxers contain chemicals that disrupt endocrine function and are considered probable human carcinogens by various health agencies.
Research indicates a potential increase in the risk of uterine and ovarian cancers among women using these chemical hair relaxers.
The Attorney General seeks consumer compensation and demands that L’Oréal ceases sales of these products without appropriate health warnings.
