Mohamed Coulibaly’s Death and Alleged NFL Investment Scheme Explored

The sudden death of Mohamed Coulibaly, a young man embroiled in a high-profile investment controversy, has raised numerous questions. Found lifeless in a swimming pool, Coulibaly was linked to a scheme allegedly defrauding NFL players. Authorities are now delving into the mysterious circumstances surrounding his demise.

Discovery of Mohamed Coulibaly’s Body

On July 31, Mohamed Coulibaly, aged 24, was discovered dead in a pool at a house located in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. This discovery followed a welfare check initiated by local police after family members voiced their concerns about his well-being, as reported by ABC 7 and Barron’s. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office has not yet released any public statements regarding the ongoing investigation.

Insights into the Alleged NFL Investment Scheme

Just weeks prior to his death, Coulibaly was the focus of a Barron’s investigative report. The report accused him of facilitating a fraudulent investment scheme involving Shopify-based e-commerce platforms. Investors, including several former and current NFL players, were allegedly deceived into believing they were acquiring stakes in lucrative online businesses.

According to Barron’s, the sales numbers presented to investors were fabricated, leading them to believe in the profitability of these ventures. Three ex-NFL athletes reportedly lost over $1 million collectively. As Jacob Adelman from Barron’s magazine explained, “The athletes and other investors would buy into these e-commerce shops that seemed to be doing really good business based on the sales logs that they were able to review. But we were able to determine that those transactions were manually input by somebody with access to the backend of these stores.”

Impact on NFL Players

Among those affected by the alleged scheme was former New York Giants linebacker Tae Crowder, who invested $500,000. Crowder shared with ABC 7, “I don’t want anybody else to get involved in anything like this, and whoever has got involved, I just want to come together and make it right.” He recounted how his friendship with Coulibaly reassured him enough to make the investment.

Despite these allegations, Coulibaly maintained his innocence, asserting to Barron’s that the accusations were unfounded and the situation was misrepresented. At the time of his death, Coulibaly had not been formally charged with any crime.

The investigation into both Coulibaly’s death and the alleged investment scheme is still ongoing, and the cause of his death has yet to be determined.
