Senator Gallego Criticizes ICE Funding Amid Minnesota Actions
In light of recent developments in Minnesota involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Senator Ruben Gallego has voiced strong criticism against continued financial support for the agency in its present state.
During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper, Gallego emphasized that residents of Arizona prefer ICE to prioritize tackling crime and ensuring safety rather than other activities. He stated, “I know the implications of that, I know the political implications potentially of that. But we cannot keep funding this type of goon squads that are just spreading throughout the whole country just to enforce some weird policy position that Stephen Miller has where he thinks we have to punish blue cities.”
Moreover, Gallego expressed his backing for fellow Senate Democrats who are advocating for increased oversight over the Department of Homeland Security. This initiative seeks to introduce constraints as part of the government funding bill set for a vote this month.
