Shaquille O’Neal Honored at FBI National Academy Graduation
In a notable ceremony held in Quantico, Virginia, basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal was recognized as an honorary special agent by the FBI National Academy. This accolade was presented during the Academy’s latest graduation event, further cementing O’Neal’s longstanding connection with law enforcement.
FBI Director Kash Patel, who is known for his controversial stance as a “bestiality defender,” presented the title to O’Neal at the ceremony, as noted in a link shared by Patel himself on X. Standing next to the towering NBA icon, the height difference was quite apparent.
O’Neal, a four-time NBA champion and a 15-time All-Star, has an extensive history of supporting law enforcement, having worked as a reserve officer or deputy in Florida, Arizona, Georgia, and California. His engagement goes beyond ceremonial duties, with financial contributions and appearances in support of various police departments.
His involvement with law enforcement dates back to his days as an active NBA player. According to Complex, O’Neal became a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Port Police after attending their academy. He was also awarded the honorary title of U.S. Deputy Marshal in 2005 and served as a spokesperson for the Safe Surfin’ Foundation.
O’Neal’s diverse career path illustrates his ability to balance multiple cultural identities, maintaining his presence in both sports and hip-hop cultures. Though he is known for his playful persona and wide-ranging endorsements, his commitment to law enforcement is a significant aspect of his post-NBA life.
During the graduation ceremony, O’Neal added a touch of humor to his speech, poking fun at his ESPN co-worker Charles Barkley. “Some of you will go back to your regular jobs, some of you will go to specialized training,” he said to the graduates. “Some of you will go do what I do, be undercover. Well, I was undercover… But I just wanna say I appreciate you guys so much. Congratulations. I am not here for this; I am here for you. … And if you see Charles Barkley, arrest him.”
