Arizona’s telecommunications landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. A massive merger between Cox Communications and Spectrum, a leading internet provider, has been finalized, marking a new era for cable services in the region.
Charter Communications, which owns Spectrum, has successfully completed a $34.5 billion acquisition of Cox Communications. The merger, concluded this fall, signals a pivotal shift in the industry.
In 2023, Cox Communications reported serving nearly 3 million customers across metro Phoenix and southern Arizona. The company also projected around 3,000 employees in Arizona by 2025.
Spectrum has assured local customers that all current equipment and pricing will remain unchanged during the integration process. Additionally, account details and internet services are expected to continue without disruption.
By mid-September, all services previously offered by Cox are set to be rebranded under the Spectrum name.
