Teen Accused of Murder in Clown Costume at St. Louis Bus Stop

In a chilling incident that has left the St. Louis community on edge, a 15-year-old has been charged with murder after allegedly attacking a man while dressed in a clown costume. The Illinois State Police reported that the teenager was caught on video in the unusual attire during the crime.

The victim, identified as 78-year-old John W. Allen from Jennings, Missouri, was discovered deceased in East St. Louis, Illinois, on Monday. Allen, remembered by his family as a Navy veteran, a retired bus driver, and an active member of his church, was reportedly in the area to visit relatives at the time of the attack.

Following swift investigative efforts, state officers pinpointed a suspect and apprehended the 15-year-old at a local residence. The juvenile, whose identity remains undisclosed, faced a first-degree murder charge on Thursday, as confirmed by Chris Allen, a spokesperson from the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office. The boy appeared in juvenile court and will remain detained pending his next court appearance.

A request for a statement from the county public defender’s office, which is representing the teenager, went unanswered. Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office is pursuing a motion to transfer the case to adult court, aiming to try the suspect as an adult due to the gravity of the offense.
