University of Arizona Partially Reinstates Fraternity Activities Amid Ongoing Investigations
In recent developments at the University of Arizona, a temporary halt on fraternity activities has mostly been lifted. This suspension came after a series of reports detailing incidents involving hazing, assaults, and substance misuse.
The university’s official page confirms that five fraternities are still under scrutiny, with their operations remaining suspended until further notice.
The university’s dean of students initiated the suspension last week due to multiple allegations affecting nearly half of the Interfraternity Council chapters. In a communication to these Greek organizations, the dean expressed that “The number of cases under investigation and the severity of the concerns is egregious.”
Historically, a few Greek societies have faced disciplinary actions or lost their affiliation with the university, effectively severing their formal ties.
