Chobani’s coffee creamers have captured the spotlight in recent times. The brand, originally known for its Greek yogurt, has made a notable mark in the coffee creamer market since its debut in late 2019.
Chobani’s creamers use cream derived from their yogurt-making process, and each flavor is crafted with six or fewer ingredients, including milk and cane sugar.
With the introduction of “limited batch” flavors like s’mores and raspberry rose, Chobani’s creamers have gained significant popularity online. TikTok has been abuzz with users posting videos that have garnered tens of thousands of views, featuring taste tests and creative drink recipes with these creamers.
I’m a fan of Chobani’s offerings, particularly the sweet cream flavor, which I enjoy year-round, and peppermint mocha during the festive season.
Given the expanding variety, I decided to explore if there are other flavors I might prefer.
To keep things fair, I used the same amount of creamer in each glass of cold brew.
During my exploration, I picked up nine different Chobani creamers from Target. Apart from a discounted seasonal flavor, each 24-ounce bottle cost $5.07 on sale (regular price was $5.79).
For consistency, I mixed 0.75 fluid ounces of creamer into 5 ounces of unflavored, unsweetened medium-roast cold brew, ensuring no dilution with ice.
9. Cinnamon coffee cake — I found that this flavor needed more sweetness to balance the strong cinnamon taste
Despite my love for cinnamon coffee cake as a dessert, this flavor didn’t meet my expectations. It had a dominant cinnamon aroma with hints of cream cheese, reminiscent of a coffee cake with sour cream. However, the taste was overly cinnamon-forward and lacked the necessary sweetness to balance it.
8. Cookie dough — This was OK, but I felt the cocoa left a bitter aftertaste
Though cookie dough is delightful on its own and in ice cream, this creamer didn’t quite hit the mark for me. While it smelled like genuine cookie dough, the taste didn’t match. It was chocolaty and overly sweet, with a bitter cocoa aftertaste.
7. Toasted-coconut vanilla — I liked this flavor, but I’m not a huge coconut fan
The toasted-coconut vanilla creamer exuded a fresh coconut aroma, which was pleasant. Despite my usual reservations about coconut, I found this creamer enjoyable. The coconut flavor was subtle, and it combined well with vanilla, making it a balanced option.
6. Vanilla — This was nearly tied with confetti birthday cake and sweet cream
The vanilla creamer had a sweet vanilla scent, similar to a vanilla cupcake, with a smooth texture. It was challenging to distinguish between the vanilla, sweet cream, and confetti birthday cake flavors. The vanilla had a mild bitter note due to the vanilla extract, but it wasn’t easily noticeable when tasted separately.
5. Sweet cream — This was once my go-to, but I’m not as impressed after trying others on this list
Chobani’s sweet-cream creamer, a previous favorite, has now taken a middle ranking. Although it has no bitter notes, it lacks the pronounced flavor of vanilla or the sweetness of the birthday-cake variant. It simply made my coffee taste like it had cream and sugar.
4. Confetti birthday cake — This tasted like a really well-balanced version of a vanilla or sweet-cream creamer
Of the vanilla-esque trio, the confetti birthday cake stood out. It had a frosting and sprinkle aroma, with a well-balanced vanilla flavor. Unlike typical cake-flavored snacks, it wasn’t artificial tasting. I appreciated its lack of bitterness and balanced sweetness.
3. Caramel macchiato — The richness of this flavor added more depth to my morning coffee
While caramel macchiato is a café favorite of mine, I often find it overly sweet in creamer form. This Chobani variant was sweet but enjoyable, with a rich caramel flavor and a hint of coffee. It complemented my coffee well, though I might mix it with milk next time to adjust the sweetness.
2. Hazelnut — The nutty, earthy flavor balanced the sweetness of the creamer and the bitterness of the coffee
Chobani’s hazelnut creamer delivered a delightful nutty flavor. Despite its earthy aroma, the taste was impressive, offering a balance of earthiness and sweetness that complemented the coffee’s bitterness.
1. Chocolate-covered strawberry — I’m begging Chobani to make this flavor permanent
This seasonal chocolate-covered strawberry flavor, available from January to March, was a pleasant surprise. Its strawberry aroma and flavor were reminiscent of real fruit, with a subtle chocolate undertone. It paired beautifully with coffee, and I wish it were a year-round offering.
Ultimately, I’d drink any of these again.
Chobani’s coffee creamers impress with their simple ingredients and lack of artificial taste. The colorful packaging is appealing, and I wouldn’t hesitate to enjoy any of these flavors again, even the cinnamon coffee cake.
