Arizona Autism Announces Layoffs, Plans to Transition to Contract Work

Arizona Autism’s Strategic Shift: Employees to Transition as Contractors

Arizona Autism, a provider of pediatric therapy and caregiving for those with developmental disabilities in Arizona, is undergoing a major restructuring that will impact nearly 2,800 employees. The CEO of the organization has expressed a desire for these employees to continue their association with the company, albeit in a different capacity as contract workers.

In an unlisted YouTube video, Ryker Martin, co-owner of Arizona Autism, elaborated on the organization’s decision to restructure. He indicated that this move is in response to anticipated changes from the state Division of Developmental Disabilities. A legal requirement enacted earlier this year mandates the division to adopt a new assessment tool, a process still underway, which could significantly alter the services provided to numerous families across Arizona.

Martin explained in the video that starting January, all caregivers who offer home and community-based services would transition to contract work. This strategic decision aims to align the organization with upcoming regulatory changes while maintaining service continuity.

Efforts to reach Arizona Autism for additional comments were unsuccessful, as calls to the company were not returned. For more details on the restructuring, refer to the official announcement.
