Uber is hiring people as it tries to become a “super app.” So how much is it paying them?
Uber is reshaping its operations by integrating a wider array of services, including the use of self-driving cars and providing personalized customer deals.
“We’re slowly moving towards a super app of sorts,” remarked CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
The company has brought in talent from beyond U.S. borders, employing individuals on H-1B visas to achieve this transformation.
As part of the H-1B visa process, companies must file work visa data with the U.S. Department of Labor. This includes salary information, although it does not account for equity or additional benefits employees might receive. The filings also offer insight into average industry salaries for U.S. workers.
The H-1B visa landscape is undergoing changes. In a recent development, President Donald Trump has imposed a $100,000 fee for visa renewals. Additionally, proposed rule modifications could make visa allocations more favorable to higher-paid applicants, legal experts have informed Business Insider.
In the 2025 federal fiscal year, Uber submitted applications to hire 945 workers via the H-1B visa program, a notable increase from the 778 filings in 2024, as reported to the U.S. Department of Labor.
