US Citizen Dragged from Car by ICE in Viral Video Amid Minneapolis Crackdown

Intensified Immigration Operations Lead to Controversial Detainment in Minneapolis

On her way to a medical appointment in Minneapolis, U.S. citizen Aliya Rahman was forcibly removed from her car by immigration officers, according to her statement released Thursday. The arrest, captured on video, has attracted millions of views and sparked significant discussion on social media.

Incident at the Intersection

Rahman recounted her experience of being intercepted by federal immigration agents while en route to a Traumatic Brain Injury Center. The video shows agents shouting over the sounds of whistles, horns, and protesters’ cries. In the footage, masked officers break Rahman’s car window, cut her seatbelt, and physically remove her from the vehicle.

“I’m disabled trying to go to the doctor up there, that’s why I didn’t move,” Rahman stated while being restrained by officers. The Department of Homeland Security has labeled her as an agitator, claiming she ignored orders to move her vehicle. She was arrested alongside six others, one of whom allegedly attacked an officer.

Viral Videos Spotlight Tensions

The video of Rahman’s arrest is one among many that have gained widespread attention, highlighting the tension between federal agents and local residents. These videos frequently depict protesters using whistles, shouting, and honking horns, while officers break windows, deploy pepper spray, and warn against public interference. Incidents of people, both immigrants and citizens, being forcibly detained are common in these recordings.

An instance captured agents using a battering ram to enter the Minneapolis home of Garrison Gibson, while his family was present, drawing questions about warrants and the presence of firearms.

Public Reactions and Personal Accounts

Monica Bicking, a nurse at a homeless shelter, captured a video showing an agent kneeing a man on the ground. Though not actively participating in protests, Bicking carries a whistle for safety, noting the frequent presence of ICE agents.

Bicking commented, “We’re hypervigilant every time we leave our houses, looking for ICE, trying to protect our neighbors, trying to support our neighbors, who are now just on lockdown.”

Health Concerns and Aftermath

Rahman expressed her gratitude for surviving the ordeal, describing her detainment experience as being treated “like an animal.” Despite repeatedly requesting medical attention, she was only taken to a hospital after losing consciousness in her cell.

Upon her release, she acknowledged the emergency staff, saying, “They gave me hope when I thought I was going to die.” Rahman’s legal representatives confirmed her treatment for injuries consistent with assault.
