Elon Musk’s private jet, a Gulfstream G650, departed from San Jose International Airport on Wednesday night, according to ADS-B Exchange flight data. While it’s uncertain if Musk is aboard, he is slated to participate in a panel with Larry Fink at 4:30 p.m. Swiss time.
Cisco’s Management Philosophy

At Cisco, management isn’t the cornerstone of a career path. Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s president and chief product officer, champions a flattening approach where management is not a sole focus.
“I want everyone to be a player-coach. I don’t want anyone to be a full-time manager. We don’t need full-time managers at Cisco,” Patel shared on Wednesday. This philosophy encourages employees to think broadly about their contributions to the world, rather than fixating on job titles.
Patel added, “If in the pursuit of that change, you have to go out and reluctantly manage some people, then go ahead and do that. But management, in and of itself, is not a full-time job.”
European Market Uncertainty

JPMorgan’s co-CEOs for EMEA, Conor Hillery and Matthieu Wiltz, have been gauging European investor sentiment. Their recent trip across Europe and the Middle East coincided with geopolitical tensions in Venezuela and Greenland, heightening client uncertainty.
“I think it’s just raising the spectre of uncertainty, so clients aren’t making any definitive assumptions at this stage,” Hillery explained. Wiltz noted, “There is a bit more of a question mark now compared to the first two weeks of January.”
Newsom’s Remarks on Trump

California Governor Gavin Newsom didn’t hold back in his critique of President Trump during a morning session. He used red kneepads as a metaphor for CEOs who, according to him, “kneel to Trump” and accused unnamed corporate leaders of “selling out to this administration.”
Newsom didn’t shy away from personal jabs either, calling Trump an “invasive species” and stating, “I’m living rent-free in Trump’s head.”
Musk’s Criticism of Davos
Elon Musk has previously criticized the Davos forum. In a tweet from December 2022, he stated, “My reason for declining the Davos invitation was not because I thought they were engaged in diabolical scheming, but because it sounded boring af lol.”

Wednesday was all about President Trump, who arrived in Davos following a minor travel delay due to an electrical issue on Air Force One.
The audience responses were mixed. Business Insider reported from the room, fact-checking Trump’s economic claims. In a turn of events, Trump announced the cancellation of new European tariffs, citing an agreement with NATO to develop a “framework.”
