Federal Judge Dismisses Trump’s Defamation Lawsuit Against Wall Street Journal

President Trump’s Defamation Lawsuit Dismissed by Federal Judge

President Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch was dismissed by a federal judge on Monday. The lawsuit stemmed from a story linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, which the president deemed as false and defamatory.

U.S. District Judge Darrin P. Gayles in Florida ruled that Trump had not shown the article was published with malicious intent but allowed him to file an amended complaint. The article highlighted a sexually suggestive letter with Trump’s alleged signature, included in a 2003 album for Epstein’s birthday, which Trump denied writing.

Despite efforts from the newspaper and Murdoch’s attorneys to prove the article’s statements as true, the judge stated that determining the authenticity of the letter and Trump’s relationship with Epstein was a matter of fact that couldn’t be resolved at this stage.

This ruling represents a setback for the Trump administration’s response to the Epstein files’ release and the president’s attempts to use legal means to address critical reporting against him. Neither the White House nor Dow Jones, the publisher of the Wall Street Journal, provided immediate comments on the decision.
