Arizona Congressman and gubernatorial hopeful Andy Biggs has a longstanding reputation for advocating congressional oversight on military actions. However, he recently expressed support for former President Donald Trump’s military initiatives in Iran.
In 2019, Biggs helped establish the Congressional War Powers Caucus, which aims to “restore Congress’s constitutionally-mandated authority over matters of war and peace”.
According to Cronkite News, Biggs accused President Joe Biden in 2024 of bypassing constitutional limits with airstrikes in Yemen.
Biggs took to X to voice his concerns, stating, “Biden’s airstrikes in Yemen blatantly violate Article 1 of our Constitution. He can’t unilaterally pull us into another war. Why does he want so many wars?” Biggs posted on X.

Biggs also critiqued the Biden administration’s stance on Iran, insisting, “The Biden administration and Warhawks cannot unilaterally authorize military action against Iran. The Constitution clearly grants Congress the sole power to declare war and authorize military action.” He said something similar about the Biden administration’s actions in Iran later that year.
Despite his criticisms of Biden, Biggs supports Trump’s handling of the Iranian situation. He told KJZZ on Friday, “I’ve gone back and looked at the War Powers Act and I think that all the requirements of the War Powers Act were met, and I think Article 2 of the Constitution gives the president that authority.”
Biggs indicated that efforts are underway to bring the Iranian conflict to a swift resolution.
