A court in The Hague is set to handle a troubling case involving a 33-year-old individual accused of targeting two members of the Dutch royal family. The suspect is believed to have plotted an attack on Princess Amalia, the 22-year-old heir to the throne, and her 20-year-old sister, Princess Alexia.
Details from a court scheduling order, accessible via The Hague Public Prosecutor’s Office website, reveal that the plan was allegedly conceived in February. The accused reportedly possessed two axes engraved with the names ‘Alexia’, ‘Mossad’, and ‘Sieg Heil,’ along with a handwritten note mentioning ‘Amalia’, ‘Alexia’, and ‘Bloodbath’.
Further insights into the case remain undisclosed by the public prosecutor’s office as they prepare for a procedural hearing on Monday. Information regarding the suspect’s arrest, including the location and timing, hasn’t been made public, complying with Dutch privacy laws that also withhold the suspect’s identity.
The Royal House has yet to provide any comment on the situation.
Princess Amalia has encountered security threats previously. In 2022, due to threats linked to organized crime, she was compelled to abandon her student life in Amsterdam to reside at the royal palace. Queen Maxima noted that the circumstances had “enormous consequences for her life,” stating that Amalia “can’t leave home.”
Amalia has since resided temporarily in Madrid, where she expressed gratitude to the citizens by inaugurating a tulip garden. In a related incident from 2020, an individual was convicted for threatening Amalia, having sent menacing messages through Instagram to her and a friend when she was 16.
