ICE Deportation Flights Increase in February, Reports Human Rights First

Surge in ICE Deportation Flights Continues Across the U.S.

Recent findings from Human Rights First indicate a persistent increase in ICE deportation flights, with Arizona being a significant participant in this trend. The organization monitors ICE flights each month from various airports, including those using commercial airlines such as Avelo Airlines.

Avelo Airlines had been conducting deportation flights from the Mesa airport until their cessation at the end of January. Despite this, February saw a notable uptick in activity. Nationwide, over 1,600 deportation and transfer flights were recorded, with a notable 1,170 flights occurring between detention centers—averaging approximately 42 flights per day.

Phoenix emerged as one of the top four cities with frequent shuttle flights daily. Additionally, it hosted the second deportation flight of the year for Palestinian nationals.
