Trump Endorses Arizona Candidates at Phoenix ‘Build the Red Wall’ Rally

Trump Endorses Arizona Candidates at Turning Point USA Rally in Phoenix

In a high-energy event held at Dream City Church, former President Donald Trump highlighted key political figures in Arizona, bolstering their campaigns with his endorsements. The “Build the Red Wall” rally, organized by Turning Point USA’s political action branch, saw Trump lending his support to a range of candidates.

The term “red wall” alludes to critical states such as Arizona, where Republican victories are seen as vital for maintaining control of the federal government. Trump’s speech came after appearances by several Arizona political figures, including gubernatorial hopeful and Congressman Andy Biggs.

Many attendees were keen to hear President Trump’s views, as he praised Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen, who is seeking the attorney general position. Trump also acknowledged Kimberly Yee, a candidate for superintendent of public instruction, and Rep. Alexander Kolodin, who is running for secretary of state.

Trump’s commendation of Petersen followed a moment of tension when GOP Congressman Paul Gosar, endorsing another attorney general candidate, Rodney Glassman, was met with boos from the crowd. Gosar stated, “It just can’t be the red wall with Andy [Biggs], we gotta bring an AG like Rodney Glassman into play.”

Petersen expressed gratitude for the endorsement, saying, “To hear the president of the United States shout out your name to such an incredible crowd of course it’s an honor, it’s energizing and it’s a huge, huge boost to the campaign.”

The rally also had implications for the upcoming gubernatorial race, where Biggs aims to challenge Governor Katie Hobbs. Biggs promised policies aligning with Trump’s, stating, “As governor our taxes will fall, just like we did in DC. No taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime. Oddly enough, Katie Hobbs vetoed those provisions.” This refers to a tax cut package that Hobbs had previously vetoed.

Trump also acknowledged Congressman Juan Ciscomani, marking his first appearance on stage at a Turning Point event. Despite past political tensions, Ciscomani noted to KJZZ that Turning Point had been supportive during his previous campaign.

Trump’s rally also addressed international issues, with attendees expressing support for his recent actions in Iran. His criticism of Pope Leo was a topic of discussion, with Trump having previously called the pope “weak on crime” on social media, sparking mixed reactions among supporters.

Richard McMartin, an attendee, commented, “I would kind of like both of them to stay in their lanes a little bit, but if the pope is making commentary on social issues pertaining to the United States, I think that Trump you know he’s gonna respond.”
