Arizona Violent Death Dashboard Upgraded with New Features and Data

Innovative Dashboard Enhancements Provide Deeper Insights into Arizona’s Violent Crimes

Arizona State University has been at the forefront of providing valuable insights into violent crimes through its Arizona Violent Death Reporting System Dashboard. This tool, which was launched several months ago, has recently undergone significant enhancements to better aid researchers and the public in understanding patterns in homicides, suicides, and more.

A notable upgrade to the dashboard is the ability for users to create and download custom tables, offering a more flexible approach for those looking to analyze death statistics over various time periods.

Research analyst Jordan Batchelor from the university’s WATTS Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety highlights the importance of the new filtering options. “So if you go to something like demographics or trends or whatnot, there’s going to be a number of drop down menus where the user can select things like race and sex and location,” Batchelor explained.

In addition to these features, the dashboard now includes a dedicated section that presents suicide and homicide data updated to within a month of the user’s access. Another new feature is an interactive map that details violent death data among Arizona’s military veterans.
