In a significant boost to operational efficiency, Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune now have access to a state-of-the-art logistics facility that streamlines the process of gear issue, turn-in, and repair. This development marks a milestone in military resource management, promising to enhance readiness and efficiency.
On April 14, the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Carlos A. Ruiz, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new 109,000-square-foot Class II Logistics Facility at Camp Lejeune. This facility combines Individual Issue Facility operations and the Class II Sustainment Program’s maintenance and repair under one roof, optimizing resource management.
Streamlined Operations
Out of the entire space, approximately 80,000 square feet are dedicated to the Consolidated Storage Program. This area is responsible for issuing, receiving, inspecting, and maintaining individual combat gear. The rest of the facility is focused on sustainment and repair functions. This consolidation eliminates the need for Marines to move between multiple buildings, facilitating a smoother process. According to the official release, the layout supports “parallel processing of units, clearer customer flow, and dedicated zones for inspection and maintenance.”
Sergeant Major Ruiz emphasized the importance of this enhancement during the ceremony: “The people cared about the process.” Colonel Sharon Dubow, Commander of Marine Force Storage Command, also reiterated the shared vision: “We share the same vision. That the Marine who seizes the objective is equipped.”
Advanced Technology Enhancements
The facility features an advanced Non-Destructive Test Equipment X-ray machine, significantly increasing the inspection capacity for Enhanced Small Arms Protective Inserts. This innovation accelerates inspection processes and ensures the timely availability of critical body armor components.

Moreover, digital tools have been introduced for scheduling appointments and accessing gear receipts online, enhancing accountability and aligning with the Marine Corps’ focus on equipment visibility. The site functions as a regional hub for Individual Combat Clothing and Equipment, paving the way for further automation.
Facility Built for Future Readiness
Originally initiated as a response to infrastructure damage caused by Hurricane Florence, the project evolved into a comprehensive modernization effort with congressional recovery funding. This transformation turned a basic necessity into a fully-fledged support facility, enhancing the operational readiness of Marines.

Beneficial Impact for Camp Lejeune Marines
For Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune, the new facility means reduced time in gear acquisition and more focus on training and operations. With faster cycles for issuing and repairing equipment, units can maintain higher readiness levels. The facility is operational, and Marines are encouraged to schedule appointments through the Marine Force Storage Command’s online system to ensure efficient service.
