Mike Lawler’s Campaign Spending Under Scrutiny Amid Lavish Expenses

Mike Lawler

New York Representative Mike Lawler continues to make headlines as he faces scrutiny for his campaign spending practices. Despite previous reports, Lawler shows no signs of changing course when it comes to his use of campaign funds.

According to a detailed Daily Mail report, Lawler had spent over $150,000 on various luxuries last year. The expenses included $11,000 on personal chauffeurs and a $700 stay at a beachfront Ritz-Carlton in Florida, documented through public Federal Elections Commission (FEC) filings.

While campaign funds can be legally used for travel, such spending must be both reasonable and necessary. Nonetheless, recent FEC filings reveal that Lawler’s spending habits have continued into 2026. His campaign disclosed expenditures of over $4,800 in January for a West Palm Beach trip, with $3,511 allocated to limousine services and $1,355 spent at a Hilton hotel.

It is worth noting that West Palm Beach offers a complimentary city-run car service, akin to Uber.

In that same month, Lawler’s campaign also spent over $600 at a Jefferson Valley, NY pizza restaurant, marked as “fundraiser expenses.”

Further illustrating his spending pattern, Lawler traveled to Florida in March for a fundraiser at Longboat Key’s St. Regis Hotel, where $807 was spent on a car service. Sarasota County, the location of Longboat Key, provides a community car service with rides costing between $3 and $6.

These financial decisions could potentially distance voters who are feeling the pinch from the economic effects of the Iran war and President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. The recent surge in gas prices has led to the highest inflation rates observed in two years.

As Lawler campaigns for a third term in the House, he’s considered one of the Republican incumbents most at risk in the upcoming election.
