Inside the Luxe World of Superyachts: Tech Titans’ Stunning Vessels

In the elite world of superyachts, size often equates to prestige. Driven by a growing wealth gap, these extravagant vessels are becoming even larger as affluent individuals seek to showcase their status.

Traditionally, the bigger the yacht, the wealthier its owner, with billionaires typically owning yachts over 50 meters. Among the world’s wealthiest, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sergey Brin have all acquired yachts exceeding 100 meters in the last two years.

These luxurious vessels, equipped with gyms, spas, and theaters, reflect the lifestyle of the elite. With a focus on wellness, many now feature state-of-the-art fitness equipment and even office spaces, catering to a younger generation of yacht owners.

Ownership of such yachts is often shrouded in mystery, with some vessels never registered publicly. For instance, Evan Spiegel is rumored to own the 94-meter “Bliss.”

Sergey Brin: Dragonfly

The Google cofounder Sergey Brin commands a fleet known as the “Fly Fleet,” featuring the 142-meter “Dragonfly.” This yacht, delivered in December 2024, includes a glass-bottom pool, spa, and a business deck. Brin’s previous yacht, a 73-meter “Dragonfly,” has been renamed “Capricorn” and is on sale for $30 million.

Jeff Bezos: Koru and Abeona

Bezos’ 127-meter yacht “Koru,” delivered in 2023, is the largest sailing yacht globally. Accompanied by its support vessel “Abeona,” it has hosted several high-profile events. The yacht made headlines due to a controversy involving a historic Rotterdam bridge and has faced criticism for its teak usage.

Mark Zuckerberg: Launchpad

Zuckerberg’s “Launchpad” debuted in 2024, originally designed for a sanctioned Russian businessman. Its maiden voyage stretched from Gibraltar to St. Maarten. The yacht features a swimming pool and two helipads, with its cost remaining undisclosed.

Eric Schmidt: Whisper

Eric Schmidt acquired the 95-meter “Whisper” in 2023, formerly owned by Shahid Khan. The yacht offers a private jacuzzi, spa, lap pool, and theater. It was listed for about $160 million, with weekly charters available for $1.4 million.

Barry Diller: Eos

Barry Diller’s 93-meter “Eos,” built by Lürssen, is one of the largest private sailing yachts. It regularly hosts celebrities and spends time in the Mediterranean and St. Barts during the holiday season.

Jim Clark: Athena

Jim Clark’s “Athena,” a 90-meter sailing yacht, was delivered in 2004. Despite multiple attempts to sell it, including a $95 million listing in 2012, it remains unsold.

Charles Simonyi: Norn

Charles Simonyi’s 90-meter “Norn,” delivered in 2023, features an outdoor cinema and pool that transforms into a dance floor. Simonyi sold his previous yacht “Skat” in 2021, which shared a similar militaristic design.

Larry Ellison: Musashi

Larry Ellison’s 88-meter “Musashi,” delivered by Feadship in 2011, showcases Japanese and Art Deco influences and includes a pool, salon, gym, and basketball court. Ellison’s passion for yachting extends to financing America’s Cup-winning teams.

Laurene Powell Jobs: Venus

The 78-meter “Venus,” designed by Steve Jobs and Philippe Starck, was completed in 2012. It features six cabins, soundproof spaces, and cutting-edge technology. Starck described it as “the elegance of the minimum.”
