Congresswoman Ansari Files Impeachment Against Defense Sec. Hegseth

Impeachment Proceedings Launched Against Defense Secretary Hegseth

In a significant political move, Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari has initiated impeachment proceedings against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, citing his role in what she describes as an unauthorized conflict with Iran.

This action follows Ansari’s recent declaration of her intent to challenge Hegseth, whom she accuses of being a pivotal figure in enabling military actions against Iran. The U.S., in coordination with Israel, began military operations in late February, intensifying the situation.

Ansari has criticized Hegseth, who leads the rebranded Department of War, for allegedly violating his constitutional obligations. She claims his actions have endangered American military personnel and led to unlawful operations, including a controversial strike on a girls’ school in Minab, Iran.

The congresswoman contends these actions amount to high crimes and misdemeanors, justifying the call for his removal. To this end, she has filed six articles of impeachment against Hegseth, with support from 12 other House Democrats.
