ERMCO to Establish New Transformer Facility in Arizona
With the rising demand for electricity across the nation, ERMCO has announced plans to construct a new manufacturing plant for distribution transformers in Arizona. This strategic decision aims to alleviate current shortages and meet the growing power needs.
The proposed site in Arizona offers a favorable climate and access to a skilled workforce, according to ERMCO CEO Tim Mills. The facility is expected to bolster the company’s capacity to produce essential components that transform high voltage electricity into the lower voltages required by homes and businesses.
“We service the entire United States and Arizona is a great strategic location for us because our factories are all located out East and we recognize that our customer base is totally dispersed across the entire United States,” Mills stated. “So this is going to put us a lot closer to many key accounts including the major utilities in the state of Arizona.”
The establishment of this new plant is anticipated to generate 500 jobs in the West Valley region, contributing to the local economy and enhancing the resilience of the power grid. As Arizona’s tech sector continues to grow, particularly with advancements in semiconductor manufacturing, ERMCO aims to support this trend.
ERMCO’s new facility will also play a vital role in supplying power to significant semiconductor and data center companies. “The product we see being built in the Waddell facility very well could be used directly by those manufacturing firms as they’re building places to build semiconductors,” Mills explained.
