Tucson Driver’s Fatal Shooting Leads to Federal Charges
A recent incident in Tucson has led to federal charges against a Mexican national, highlighting ongoing concerns about immigration and crime. The accused, Julio Cesar Aguirre, faces multiple charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a driver during an attempted carjacking.
Authorities have charged Aguirre with attempted carjacking, use of a firearm in relation to a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by an alien. The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports that Aguirre allegedly shot a male driver with a handgun while trying to steal the vehicle last Monday.
Responding to the incident, police were alerted when an individual matching Aguirre’s description trespassed on a property, threatening the occupants with a firearm before fleeing. Further investigation revealed that Aguirre had a history of immigration-related arrests, having been detained over ten times from 2007 to 2013, and was deported by court order in 2013.
The prosecution of this case is being conducted as part of the Take Back America Initiative. This initiative, established during the Trump administration, aims to tackle issues related to illegal immigration, transnational criminal organizations, and drug cartels.
In addition to federal charges, local authorities have also charged Aguirre with murder, according to KOLD News.
