In a significant development in the case of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, law enforcement agencies intensified their search efforts near her Arizona home late Friday. The mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie has been missing since February 1, prompting a large-scale investigation.
Several law enforcement vehicles, including those from the FBI and local sheriff’s department, were observed navigating a roadblock set up approximately two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s residence. This increased activity also included the towing of a Range Rover SUV from a nearby Culver’s restaurant, situated a similar distance from her home.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the operations were related to the Guthrie investigation, though details remain sparse due to an FBI request for discretion. As of early Saturday, additional information had not been made available.
Guthrie, who is 84, is known to require daily medication due to a pacemaker and heart issues. Her blood was discovered on the front porch of her Tucson-area home, raising alarms about her wellbeing. Authorities have also been dealing with purported ransom notes sent to media outlets, with deadlines that have since expired.
The investigation has involved the examination of surveillance footage, evaluation of thousands of tips, and submission of various evidence for forensic analysis. The FBI has reportedly received over 13,000 tips, while the sheriff’s department has fielded at least 18,000 calls regarding the case.
Authorities have recently disclosed video evidence depicting an armed, masked individual at Guthrie’s doorstep on the night of her disappearance. This brief footage, totaling less than a minute, provides crucial visual insight into the circumstances surrounding her abduction.
Experts believe the video could hold significant clues that may aid in solving the mystery of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
