Innovative Mobile Kiosk to Aid Homeless in Tucson with Identification Services
Addressing the critical need for identification among the homeless population, the Homeless ID Project is expanding its reach with a mobile kiosk visiting Tucson. This initiative showcases how the project has streamlined access to IDs for those in need throughout the Valley.
Rick Mitchell, the leader of the nonprofit organization, emphasized the collaboration with the Arizona Department of Transportation and the technology company Kyndryl. Together, these partnerships have made it possible to bring identification services directly to communities.
According to Mitchell, “We’re able to take that mobile kiosk into one of our outreach programs or our project connect or other community even, as long as it’s during the hours that MVD is open and we can connect our clients directly with MVD.” This direct connection to the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) provides a crucial link for individuals seeking identification.
The mobile kiosk will be available at Tucson’s Woods Memorial Library on Thursday, March 12, offering an opportunity for those in need to obtain vital identification documents.
