Arizona sees significant drop in Obamacare enrollment for 2026

Arizona Experiences Significant Decline in ACA Enrollment

Arizona has witnessed a dramatic decrease in the number of individuals enrolling in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace in early 2026, compared to the previous year.

According to recent federal statistics, the state is among those with the most considerable declines nationwide.

The statistics reflect the enrollment status for February.

The data focuses on individuals who secured insurance via the ACA marketplace and continued their coverage by paying the first month’s premium.

Compared to February of the previous year, there were over 100,000 fewer enrollments in Arizona, marking a nearly 30% reduction.

This downturn follows the expiration of ACA subsidies by Congress at the end of 2025, resulting in increased premiums. Research from KFF indicates that policyholders are now facing approximately 60% higher monthly costs.

Additionally, a KFF report from May noted a rise in deductibles by about 37%.

Despite the premium hikes, the Trump administration attributes the enrollment decline to enhanced measures against fraudulent applications.
