Club App Launches to Support Livestreamers with Community Focus

Kick Founders Unveil New App ‘Club’ for Content Creators

The creators behind the popular streaming platform Kick are launching a new app called Club, designed to enhance creator-fan interactions and provide new monetization avenues. Club aims to help creators build dedicated communities while earning through direct payments.

As social media platforms become increasingly populated with bots and AI-generated content, Club offers an alternative, emphasizing genuine human connections, particularly for livestreamers. “We launched Club to create a more human form of social media,” remarked Henrik Pohlmann, Club’s CEO.

The app, now available for iOS and Android, enters a competitive landscape dominated by platforms like Patreon, Substack, and OnlyFans. However, Club hopes to distinguish itself with community-focused features such as user profiles, participation badges, and interactive fan engagement.

Unlike its competitors, Club will operate without ads, instead taking a 20% commission from creator earnings, matching OnlyFans’ rate. This is higher than Substack’s 10% and Patreon’s platform fees, which also include additional charges for processing.

Having been in beta phase for a few months, Club has already attracted about 3,000 creators, predominantly from Kick. The app is the brainchild of Bijan Tehrani and Ed Craven, who are also behind Kick and Stake.com, a crypto gambling site. Known for minimal content moderation, Kick has become a hub for controversial figures, although it is expanding its human moderation efforts and exploring advertising.

While Club currently shares a significant user base with Kick due to limited beta marketing, it aims to broaden its reach beyond Kick’s livestreamers. Pohlmann emphasized, “We are focused on building a platform that supports creators across all types of content and communities.”

Analysts caution that Club faces challenges in attracting users to a new platform. Ben Woods from Enders Analysis noted the difficulty, stating, “Creators are multiplatform now, so there’s less incentive for fans to follow them from one platform to Club unless it can offer a better experience than YouTube, Twitch, and the like.”

As the app moves forward, its success will likely depend on its ability to offer unique features that set it apart from established platforms.
