Arizona GOP Chair Gina Swoboda to Resign, Pursue Congressional Bid

Arizona GOP Chair to Resign After Annual Meeting

Gina Swoboda, head of the Arizona Republican Party, has announced her intention to resign from her leadership position following the party’s annual gathering in January. Her decision coincides with her candidacy for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District.

Swoboda disclosed her plans in a statement on social media, noting that her decision was made “upon consideration of all the factors and in spite of the support” she received from party members.

Although Swoboda’s term as chair was set for two years after her election last year, no rules mandated her resignation. Instead, she previously advocated for the state committee to decide on conducting a special election for her replacement.

Meanwhile, some party officials had voiced opinions that Swoboda should leave her leadership role before the January assembly.
