Controversy Surrounds Arizona Senator Following Leaked Messages
Arizona’s Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego finds himself in the spotlight after a series of private messages criticizing fellow Democrats became public. The messages, which were leaked and published by the conservative outlet Human Events, have sparked debate over internal party dynamics.
In these texts, Gallego expressed frustration with the Democratic Party’s image, stating that they are perceived as the “not fun party” and critiqued the appearance of some party members. One message read, “Dem women look like Dem men and Dem men look like women.”
Further adding fuel to the fire, Gallego commented on a meme of Connecticut Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, which was captioned “if erectile dysfunction had a face.” His response to this was, “they aren’t wrong!”
Reacting to the leak, Gallego conveyed his disappointment to ABC15, expressing heartbreak that a longtime friend, who remains unnamed, had shared these private exchanges.
Gallego explained that his comments were consistent with his view that the Democratic Party needs to be more inclusive. However, he did not provide further comment on the specific nature of his remarks about colleagues’ appearances.
