Pinal County Attorney Referred to AG for Alleged Misuse of Funds

Pinal County Board Takes Action Against Attorney for Alleged Misconduct

In a significant development, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors has decided to escalate concerns regarding County Attorney Brad Miller by referring him to the state Attorney General’s Office. The decision centers on allegations of misusing public funds and resources, alongside issues related to non-compliance with public records retention.

The controversy arose when it was revealed that Miller had hired two staff members without securing the necessary board approval. These employees worked for several weeks without pay. “There’s many different departments in the county,” explained Supervisor Jeff Serdy. “Some of us are elected and we run offices. And I have approval to have a couple of employees. I can’t just hire six more employees and pay them what I want. I would have to get approval from the rest of the board, as we do each of the departments.”

In response to the situation, the board decided to approve retroactive payments to compensate the two employees. Legal advisors have indicated that board members are obligated to report such alleged violations, as failure to do so could potentially result in their own liability.
