Teen stepbrother identified as suspect in Florida cruise ship death

A tragic event on a cruise ship has captured widespread attention as a 16-year-old boy is being investigated in connection with the death of his stepsister. This revelation emerged from court documents filed by his parents amidst a custody dispute.

The teenage suspect, identified in court papers as “T.H.,” is under scrutiny from federal investigators following the death of Anna Kepner, a high school senior from Florida’s Space Coast. Kepner’s untimely demise occurred on a Carnival cruise ship, drawing significant attention and leaving numerous questions unanswered.

Documents submitted by both parents confirm that their middle child is the focus of an FBI investigation related to Kepner’s death. A memorial service was scheduled for Kepner, who was a cheerleader at her school, Temple Christian School in Titusville. The service encouraged attendees to wear bright colors as a tribute to her vibrant personality.

Details surrounding the cause and circumstances of Kepner’s death remain undisclosed. The FBI has not publicly commented on specifics, with a spokesperson noting, “the agency does not provide operational updates about ongoing investigations.” The final autopsy report is still awaited from the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s office.

In the court filings, Thomas Hudson, T.H.’s father, stated that T.H. is “now a suspect in the death of the step child during the cruise.” His ex-wife, Shauntel Hudson, echoed this acknowledgment in her filings, confirming the ongoing investigation into T.H.’s involvement.

Shauntel Hudson and her ex-husband have agreed on a temporary living arrangement for T.H. with a relative, aiming to protect their youngest child. An attorney has been retained for T.H. as the investigation proceeds. Shauntel Hudson’s attorney requested a delay in an upcoming court hearing, citing the potential for prejudicial testimony in the criminal investigation.

The Carnival Horizon, capable of accommodating nearly 4,000 passengers, was the setting for this incident. The ship completed its scheduled return to PortMiami and is collaborating with the FBI’s Miami office on the investigation.
