U.S. Offers $5M Rewards for Sinaloa Cartel Bosses in Tijuana

U.S. State Department Offers Substantial Rewards for Information on Sinaloa Cartel Leaders

In a significant move to combat drug-related crime, the U.S. State Department has announced rewards worth $5 million each for information that leads to the capture or conviction of two high-profile figures connected to the Sinaloa cartel. The individuals at the center of this announcement are siblings René and Alfonso Arzate García, who are believed to manage cartel operations in Tijuana.

This substantial financial incentive is being offered in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), signaling a robust inter-agency effort to dismantle drug trafficking networks.

Coinciding with this reward declaration is a new federal indictment against René Arzate García, famously known as “La Rana,” or “The Frog.” This latest legal action against René has been filed in a California federal court, where he faces charges related to drug trafficking and providing material support to terrorism.

In a broader context, the designation of several Mexican drug cartels, including the Sinaloa cartel, as foreign terrorist organizations by the Trump administration last year has heightened the urgency and scale of these efforts.
