NCIS Franchise Celebrates 500 Episodes with New Podcast Launch

Celebrating Two Decades of Naval Investigations: NCIS Hits Major Milestones

The NCIS franchise, a staple of CBS’s lineup for over 20 years, continues to thrive as it approaches its 500th episode. This milestone coincides with the launch of a new podcast, offering fans an inside look at the show’s enduring success.

Brian Dietzen, who portrays Dr. Jimmy Palmer, emphasizes that the timing is perfect to reflect on the show’s legacy. With three series now airing on Tuesday nights, NCIS is experiencing a unique moment of both celebration and expansion.

A Behind-the-Scenes Podcast for Fans

The newly launched podcast, NCIS: Partners & Probies, hosted by Dietzen and Diona Reasonover, aims to give viewers a deeper understanding of the series. It will feature interviews with actors, producers, and creative minds behind the show, offering insights into its success and longevity.

Dietzen notes, “It felt like the right time because we’ve got the NCIS night back again. We can celebrate a show that has such a legacy but is still on the air.”

NCIS: A Legacy of Character-Driven Storytelling

Since its debut in 2003 as a spinoff of JAG, NCIS has captivated audiences with its character-focused narratives. Dietzen highlights that the show’s appeal lies in its ability to prioritize characters over cases, saying, “Our shows are not ripped from the headlines, they’re ripped from the characters.”

This approach has enabled the show to adapt to changes in cast and audience preferences, maintaining its popularity across the globe.

Milestone Episode and Franchise Expansion

As the franchise gears up for its 500th episode, airing March 24, it reflects on its achievements while continuing to innovate with new content such as the NCIS: Partners & Probies podcast. The franchise consists of NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney, all of which returned to CBS on March 3.

For Dietzen, the connection to military audiences is particularly meaningful, as many service members have shared stories of watching NCIS while deployed. “We feel so honored that we get to entertain our troops in any way,” he shared, reflecting on the show’s resonance with military viewers.

With new episodes available on CBS and streaming on Paramount+, and a podcast offering fresh insights, the NCIS franchise is set to continue its legacy for years to come.
