Gas Prices Rise Ahead of Holidays; Arizona Average Hits $3.36 per Gallon

As the holiday season approaches, consumers in Arizona are noticing an unexpected rise in gas prices, traditionally a time when costs typically decrease. Currently, the state’s average fuel price stands at $3.36 per gallon, reflecting a 4-cent increase from the previous week.

Julian Paredes of AAA Arizona expressed optimism for a potential stabilization in gas prices. He remarked, “Whatever is happening, hopefully doesn’t last long. Thanksgiving’s just around the corner and a lot of people are gonna be hitting the road. Hopefully gas prices stabilize by then.”

The recent price surge is attributed to emergency refinery maintenance occurring in California. Among Arizona’s counties, Maricopa holds the highest gas prices, while Greenlee County offers the lowest, with prices slightly below $3.
