Film Industry Boosts Phoenix Economy with Significant Local Spending
The film sector in Phoenix has seen a noteworthy surge, contributing over $28 million to local spending from 2025 to 2026. This marks an impressive 18.5% rise compared to the prior fiscal year, indicating a vibrant growth in the industry.
Data from the city of Phoenix Film Office reveals that the 2025-26 season included more than 1,200 projects. A significant number of these were commercials for well-known brands such as Hyundai, Nike, and Southwest Airlines.
The film office highlights Arizona’s unique landscapes, like Papago Park and South Mountain, as prime filming locations. Notably, 44% of the filming permits issued were to local production companies based in Arizona.
Nearly 6,000 local actors and crew members were employed across various projects within the city, providing a substantial boost to the local film industry.
In related cultural happenings, Phoenix’s Garfield neighborhood hosted a distinctive musical event, where musicians performed a single note for 45 minutes. This improvisational act is a form of drone music, known for its minimalist and repetitive sound.
Furthermore, a panel discussion featuring local experts from architecture, design, and real estate sectors explored the unique characteristics of residential and commercial buildings in the desert city.
Music enthusiasts can also look forward to concerts on Valley Metro’s B Line, featuring performances by the Phoenix Symphony and other local music institutions over three days.
