Iran Moves World Cup Training Base from Arizona to Mexico Amid Concerns

Iran Relocates World Cup Training to Mexico Amid Security Concerns

The Iranian national soccer team is making a significant change to its World Cup preparations, shifting its training base from Arizona to Mexico. This decision, announced by the president of Iran’s soccer federation, Mehdi Taj, comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and related security issues.

Originally scheduled to train at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, the team will now set up in Tijuana, Mexico. This location is strategically closer to Los Angeles, where Iran is set to face New Zealand on June 15. The move has been approved by FIFA, according to Taj, although there has been no official confirmation from the organization so far.

The upcoming World Cup, taking place from June 11 to July 19, will be a collaborative effort hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This relocation to Tijuana places the Iranian squad in a more logistically favorable position for their initial match.
